Silent PM Alert

Can anyone give me any idea as to why I no longer get a sound when the PM alert pops up?

At first it worked fine, then for ages it was a bit unpredictable as to whether I'd get the sound or not. Now, it doesn't seem to work at all......ever. :(

Any clues or tips for me??

I never knew it did it at all. I get the pop-ups, but have never had any sound. It may have been an internal software program that alerted you to pop-ups. I have that when a pop-up is zapped.

Sorry I can't be of any more help. The only settings I believe the forum has for PMs is the pop-up or email notification, not an actual sound. Perhaps someone else can shed some more light?

EDIT: I think you can also configure Windows to play a sound on pop-ups opening. Perhaps you have changed Themes, which may explain the change?

Aha!! You may be onto something there, Neil.

It's since I changed to XP and I no longer have all the extra little sound themes I used to have. I'll bet that's the reason. Thanks very much.

Now I just need someone to tell me how to get it to play a sound at the appropriate moment (though every time a pop-up appears might be a bit excessive - I don't recall it happening that frequently).
