Well, I got myself a Sunday afternoon off, and I'm wondering if I should re-read Gardens of the Moon. I did enjoy it the first time around, but, it was a complicated book.. And, I am looking at the second book.. And I am thinking, should I re-read the first so the second book is more enjoyable? I don't know.. Hard to re-read a book when you have new one's waiting in it's wings..

Don't know. . .thought about rereading GOTM too, but decided to begin with the next novel instead. Well, I'm having trouble - I can't remember what all the chars from the first novel were. I'd say it's worth rereading GOTM before starting on Deadhouse gates- perhaps I'll yet do so myself. . .though that book. . .takes lots of time

If you remember the basics of the first book like what happens at the end, relationship between Quick Ben and Kalam, then you don't need to reread the first to understand the second. I think that when you get to the third book, what happens in the first becomes a little more important.

/me is still pissed that Prince K'azz and the Crimson Guard were not shown in the third book.

Like I said, just the basics.
Quick Ben is a Wizard, Kalam's an assassin.
They're both friends.
Further history between the two is revealed in book three.

Oh hell ya, I remember that.. I remember bit and pieces of it. I'm about 180+ pages into it now, so, I may continue onwards.. I've actually pick up some stuff that I didnt the first time around. So, we'll see..
I almost wish with books like these that they'd provide a online quiz so you can figure out if you remember'd enough to continue onwards.. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif
I'd say a Synposis would be good, but, that would be a book in itself.

You dont really have to reread Gardens of the Moon as the second book is set on a different continent and except for about 3 or 4 characters has a completely new set of characters to boggle your mind with. The 3rd book follows on after the 1st one. So its not really necessary to reread it but i would as its a damn good book.

This is exactly why I finally decided to wait until all the books were out in a series before I started reading it. That way, all the stuff is fresh in my mind when I move on to the next book. Yeah, yeah, I know that I miss out on a lot of stuff when other people are reading it, but I think I enjoy the series more that way.

Well, it will probably be an even longer wait than that since Erikson isn't even published here in the US (yet...hopefully http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif )
