And very interesting it was too.
Brief summary:
PP Likes Oxford...thinks it breeds strangeness (unlike Cambridge!)
Doesn't get much from Tolkien. Likes Greek classics though.
Not expected to be a Fantasy writer at first.
Likes the idea of writing for mixed audiences as first shown when he was writing school plays for adults and children.
Likes Batman, Superman & Dan Dare!
Likes the ideas of moral issues from material like CS Lewis but doesn't like Lewis's Christian ideas at all.
Indeed it seemed to reinforce my thoughts about Dark Materials being an Anti-Narnia...more than ever now...though he finds religions interesting.
Some nice ideas about daemons and growing up...
Good programme though.

Yes another one of those who was brought up in a Christian household/background (grandfather was a vicar!) but who rejected it all in later life.

Well...since I do not live in the UK(hehe) can you fill me in on Phil Pullman.
Had caught a few people speaking about him and his books. Could someone name a few books and a little bit about each.
i might like to read some of his books. Thanx! :D
