...just finished "Paradox" and loved it, but likeminded friend(s) who's taste(s) are usually pretty close, hated the book, while offering high prize for "To Hold Infinity"?!

Why is Terry Pratchett & his Discworld, as a rule, listed as SF in bookstores?

I haven't read Paradox but I certainly enjoyed To Hold Infinity. It's a lively read with plenty of action and decent technical ideas. Worth your while, I reckon.

As for Pratchett, I have no idea. In the UK, SF & Fantasy are all bundled together on the same shelves and pretty much always have been. If you have separate fantasy shelves, then TP ought to be there, not in SF.
