I can agree with that. It's hard to oudo a book that's good the whole way through with one that's only strong at the end.

As for terrestrial they've not shown the originl series yet though it is out on DVD (probably Christmas in the UK for the new one).

Pleased to see the actings better. Hated the Gurney Halleck they had in the first series....

Pretty much what i thought about the books actually... :D

Yeah I got that - I am currently studying at the university of Illinois, Big Ten tourney Champs 2003 :D but with a sucky draw in the NCAA, if it was at home that would be cool cos I have sci-fi there :D damn university cable subscriber

All I can say to you is: Boomer Sooner. Big 12 Champs and #1 seed.

On topic: I taped Ep 2 and will tape Ep 3 tomorrow; usually my schedule conflicts with the TV shows'.... Will update you guys later.

Watched the second episode last night, better than the first, though nothing really amazing happened, just set up the next episode, so I'm definitely looking forward to tonight's episode.

Saw tonight's episode, the best one, sorta made me mad it ended....

I thought each episode was well done. I thought the actors were pretty damm good, Susan Sarandon is a natural at playing a mean old bitch!

The actress who played Alia was looking quite hot the first night,( especially during her exercise routine) but got a little puffy looking in the 2nd and 3rd episode.

The sandworms were good in this one too, but I thought they were better in the first TV version for some reason. (the one with William Hurt as Duke Leto) I think the guild navigators were better in the first one too. The baron Harkonnen was also quite good in this one. I think he is the same actor as the previous TV version, possibly the only actor who was in both productions?

One thing that annoyed me was the overly orange lighting. I realize it adds a 'desert' feel, but it was a bit overdone.

Other than that small complaint, well done and so much better than the pitiful movie version of Dune.

I'm also looking forward to Riverworld!

It wasn't too bad. I enjoyed it but it certainly was not strict to the novels.

I am seriously considering doing a breakdown of the movie and comparing it to the book. There was quite a few things done differently, and a few that didn't quite sit well with how I remember the book. I have to re-read Dune: Messiah, and Children of Dune again first though. We will see how much time I have in the next few weeks.
