I would like to order Altered Carbon at Amazon UK- I logged in, and they have all my info, like regular Amazon, but the prices are in Pounds, I did not complete the checkout, but how can you tell how much your credit card will be charged?

You can't. At least not until the charge is processed to your card. If you want to get a rough idea of the conversion go to:
www.xe.com (http://www.xe.com)
It's a currency conversion calculator that will give you a broad idea of how much you'll be up for.

I could have sworn that this book was going to be released in the U.S. soon, but a cursory search comes up blank. Anyone know if it will be sold in the U.S.?

I believe a US deal is in place but I can't confirm a pub date, sorry.

Just to help out a little on this, when I've ordered from Amazon.com to here in the UK, the price was in dollars but they converted the costs to UK pounds on my credit card bill. I would assume they'd do the same for you (in reverse!)
AND - thank you, NOM. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif To further endorse 'the product', Altered Carbon IMO is brilliant - sharply plotted, sexy and very, very violent, but a brilliant read. Can't believe it's his first novel! Well recommended if you can cope with the messiness!

Glad you enjoyed it, Hobbit. A superb book indeed, deserving to do very well.
The boy Morgan is well into the next Takeshi Kovacs novel now... but can the audience really wait that long?

Thanks all for your input. I did some research- it's your credit card company that picks the exchange rate, and Amazon UK doesn't charge the card until they ship. At this point, exchange rates are not fluctuating wildly enough for it to be a problem.
