I just signed up with this board and i'm liking what I see. :)
I got my real start in reading by reading William Shatner's Dark Victory, which got me hooked on reading. I hadn't read any of the other books in the series at that time, and I was understandably confused by what was happening in the book or what had happened before in the previous books, but it got me intrigued enough to start up my reading craze and here I am.
I've now read all of the William Shatner Star Trek books, save the latest one (Waiting for the paperback).
I'm primarily a Sci-fi reader, but I do occasionally like to read other genres, such as being a fan of the Harry Potter series. I love Asimov's work, have known someone who actually got to meet him at his home. And if my nickname is any indication, I'm a fan of Neal Stephenson.
Expect to see me in the Sci-Fi section lots! :)
