I am starting this thread so we can share with everybody the treasured books in our collections. Let's hold each post to one book so we can prolong the thread. Here's mine:
A signed leather bound copy of Gateway by Frederik Pohl, part of the Masterpieces of Science Fiction series by Easton Press.
One of my favorite books ever, now I can reread it without wearing it out.

Gateway...I'm jealous! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
I have a signed Easton Press edition of Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness.
This book is one of my all time favorites, too. Though, I must admit, Gateway is right up there too.

...Oh no....now you've started something, Slowhand! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif In case you haven't realised, signed copies are my obsession...real life and funds permitting http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
Gateway - Got one of these too! Very nice dark blue leather and gilt edging...cost me a fortune from the States if I remember right, but worth it. I really like the Easton Press series and wish I could afford more!
Also got a copy of CJ Cherryh's Downbelow Station (bright red!)in the Easton Press series with a signed label, and a copy of Tau Zero in black leather - sadly not signed (though I have other Poul Anderson, sadly missed!).
Kamakhya - jealous about the Left Hand of Darkness http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif - it's another goodie!
Personal favourite - lots of these ( http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif ) but probably my signed Arthur C Clarke's - 2001 and Songs of Distant Earth.
I have to add a special 'Thank You' here(it's almost like an Oscars speech, I know http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif) to Michael Moorcock, who so kindly sent me signed bookplates for ALL my Eternal Champion books (that's a lot, btw!). He is a fantastic person and writer of whom I am constantly surprised by with his writing and by his generosity.
I suppose my actual 'proper' signed favourite (ie: not a label) though has got to be Mary Gentle's ASH - A Secret History (or is that SF? http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif ) though the Tad Williams's and the Robin Hobb's probably get close, not only because of the books but because they were so nice when they signed them.

Hobbit...you're cheating! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif We're supposed to keep it to one book per post to draw this thread out. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
2001, signed, wow...
I got a copy of the Easton Press' Downbelow Station for, get this, less than $5 US. OK, it is a bit faded from sun exposure, but, really, it is in decent shape (for the price). I have several Easton Press books, but I will save their titles for future posts. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
Ok...for number 2, I have a really fabulous special edition of Connie Willis' Remake. It was a signed limited edition of 2000 copies and came with a leather slipcase.
I'm with you Hobbit, I have a minor fetish for 1st edition signed books. I just wish I could afford more of them. I saw a signed first edition of The Time Machine by HG Wells on ebay. Last I checked, it was going for $7,500. The day I have that kind of cash to spend on a single book...I'll buy each and every one of you a beer! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Ooops! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/redface.gif
I like Connie Willis a lot. Remake is one of them I haven't read though - she's not easy to get in the UK. First came across her with Fire Watch, brilliant short story. I would really like a signed copy of Doomsday Book (great book, awful title! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif ) at some stage. I've got a copy of Passage signed though.

Signed Easton Press First Edition of Barrayar.
Got this when I was a member of the Easton Press Science Fiction first ed. club (had to quit, *too* expensive!). I had never heard of LMB, but it was a great introduction!

Hobbit: I tried to read Passage, but couldn't get past the middle. I think I've read just about every novel and many shorter works by Willis and Passage just bored me to tears. I found that even her typically hilarious style got on my nerves. I would give my left leg for a signed edition of Doomsday Book!
Slowhand: Boy did you luck out! That edition of Barrayer is now worth two to three times what you paid for it (at least)!
I have a signed edition of Ringworld.
This is a fun topic, but I'm going to run out of really cool signed editions pretty soon! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Isaac Asimov's "The Gods Themselves" HC 1st. IIRC, it cost me $4.95 in a department store book section.

Ray Bradbury, The Martian Chronicles, Signed, 1st Edition, Thus. I wish it was a true 1st edition, but I'm happy anyway. Bradbury was one of the very first sci-fi authors I read.
