Can anyone recommend some decent large books with movie posters and commentary- want stuff from the 40s and 50s - noir suff, B-movies, classic black and white.

On amazon, I've seem Tony Nourmand's edited quite a few books on movie posters, but looking through them in shops, they've got the posters laid out well, but no commentary on the posters, or the films and what made them special/unique at the time. Marketing strategies, audiences they try to appeal to, aritist briefs etc.

Anyone found any decent poster books out there?

On the maltese falcon dvd, there's a good documentary on the trailers of Bogart films through the years, how the studio made people notice him, how they managed to capitalise on his success after casablanca, his romance with Bacall etc- stuff I'd have missed if there was no commentary and just saw the trailers individually. Want something similar with posters- pics alone aren't enough.
