Sorry, I'm a bit late on this topic. But, back by popular demand, is this Month's What are you reading topic. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I am nearly finished with Chasm City. I got a lot of reading done yesterday due to illness. It is a good book. There is something about Reynold's writing style that still bugs me, though it is hard to pinpoint. I find the characters a little hard to believe. Of course, in Chasm City, this kind of makes sence. Maybe it is the way he drops glaring hints about what will happen. I don't know. But, that aside, it is a good book and I think a lot of people will like it.

I'm still reading Ben Bova's Rock Rats, sequel to Precipice.
However, I picked up Greg Bear's Darwin's Radio to read next. It's one that I've heard a lot about.

I really liked Darwin's Radio.
I just picked up Bova's Mars at a garage sale yesterday.

Yes, Darwin's Radio is fantastic, Susan - the concepts of genetics and evolution within that book are just amazing - even if I didn't understand them all!
He is writing a sequel now after Vitals, I understand - provisionally called Darwin's Children.
Is Rock Rats worth reading?

I've just finished Araminta Station by Jack Vance. What an enjoyable story. His style of writing enthralled me and kept me turning the pages.A good plot too and amusing.I am looking forward to the sequel, Ecce and old Earth.

Since I didn't read a single title I intended to in April I'm hesitant now to list my May titles...
Dune: House Corrino
Time Future (for the Reading Group)
Chasm City
Kiln People
and finish off The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay...a non-SF title that deals witht the history of comic books (among other things). Well worth checking out if you read non-genre stuff.

Rock Rats was good. It picks up right after "The Precipice".
Ben Bova's near future is pretty grim (and realistic), but the books are excellent.

Thank you Sus - I'll have to get Rock Rats now.
Fortytwo - I also enjoyed Araminta station, as indeed many jack Vance, though I've got to admit I didn't enjoy the sequels as miuch as Araminta.
toriphile - is that John Varley's Steel Beach? If so, excellent book. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
