I dunno - i kinda felt he was deliberately keeping me iin the dark about what was going on - but TOO in the dark. I was confused :(
I think it's one to save for a long plane journey, when i'm driven to keep at it for the first few chapters, cos the alternative's even worse! :D

Wolfe's one of those authors I've been meaning to get to, but never got time. At the current, I probably never will...

I've been meaning to read Wolfe as well, but instead I'm spending my time reading Anne of Green Gables series... sort of nostalgic for childhood I guess... those books are just so sweet...

I read 'Anne of Green Gables' yeeeeeeeeeeears ago, but i only recently discovered there were more - you think it's worth reading the others for the first time now, as a 'grown up' (:)), Lani?
(Sounds a lot less hard work than Gene Wolfe, anyway...:D)

Well, to tell the truth I found the first few novels a lot nicer than the rest of them. Actually Anne of Green Gables was the best one IMO. I think I enjoyed most of the novels until Anne started having innumerable children and most of the novels started to tell about their lives a lot more than about Anne. And truly Anne is the character I enjoy reading about here. What I would suggest, Sammie, is reading everything before Anne of Ingleside and stopping there. I think the books are worth reading not so much for the plot, but to feel the spirit of the book. You know the sort of homey, quiet, orderly, safe, comforting life feeling. Everybody's so opposite to hectic, I just love this.
In any case the books go in this order:
Anne of Green Gables
Anne of Avonlea
Anne of the Island
Anne of Windy Poplars
Anne's House of Dreams

Since this thread hasn't seemed to be used much lately, I guess i decided to start it up again! lol
I just bought a book that is definitely out of character for me, but thought it would be a good read!!
It is "The List of 7" by Mark Frost. It reminds me of a style like Sherlock Holmes and also I would say it promotes a look alike to "From Hell" (Johhny Depps' movie).
This intrigues me since I like the old-style, victorian-England! The cobble-stone roads, the buggies.... and of course, what would you do without an old-fashioned horror, murder mystery, and that all knowing chase to the end!! lol
ok...to get this started...has anybody else read it??? Would love to hear comments and...
has anybody else got some other great books to talk about??? :D
