Its midsummernightseve and im sitting omn my parents porch. On the other side of the Hessa fjord is Sula, the mountain i have been planning to visit for 20 years.(never did, its only one and a half km away). I got a beer in one hand and a brandy in the other , and im really relaxed. I cant hear a sound. the mist lies over thre water like a ghost. I sit and wonder how it was when there were no people living here on the Hessa island... (not long ago.) Its light as day, it dont get dark at this time of year, its like day without a sound.(ahh)

Earlier i were out looking at the bonfire at Slinningen. It were 25 meters high ( it fell downafter 3 hours, they are not like they used to be) And Im happy to report that no witches landed on their way to Blokksberg.

I love this time of the year, its midsummer, and im ver5y , very ,very, very drunk. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

A long time ago, before it was closed to the public... I stood in Stonehenge (well just outside actually, only the druid were allowed in the circle itself) and watched the midsummer dawn... it was really awsome. Kind of spooky to in a way. The place does seem to have an aura about it.

Umm.. maybe it's a northern countries thing.
But what's so special about midsummer?

ugh, you dont want to be me right now. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif

Its the longest day, from now on the days will get shorter and colder. Its tradition not to "sleep it away", but to celebrate.

When I was a kid, this was the only day of the year when fires were allowed. My parents gave me a box of matches, a pat on the head, and sent me off. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif ahh good times

Weren't the fire services busy that day? http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

More seriously, your first comment Gamlemshagen was fantastic - made me really want to be there (over a month late!).

Being the sad person that I am, my third thought (after 'wow, I can imagine the view' and 'alcohol - GOOD! was 'wouldn't it be great to sit there and read that book I want to read?'

Still sounds great though.
You are lucky, Gamlemshagen!
