Looking for a book

A friend told me about this book but can't remember what the title was or who wrote it. I'm hoping someone out there can help.

It's about a girl that's called an 'evostepper', a genetically engineered human with a 9 tattooed on her shoulder. She might have been working on terraforming a planet only something goes wrong and she's left on some primitive planet.

Does anyone know what this book is?
