As you all know, the word august means 'to inspire reverence and admiration', from the Latin Augustus.

(I knew I'd find a use for that dictionary one day!) :D

So, what has 'inspired' you and become something that you will 'revere' and 'admire' this month? (Couldn't resist it....sorry!)

Spill the beans, people!

Just reading Sandman for the first time. I am not usually a comic book guy, but this series is amazing. Love that Gaiman

Also reading The Drawing of the Three by King. I have been experiencing intense priapism since he announced the series was finally written and this is my way of trying to relieve that pain.

Just finished Golden Fool. I just have to say I'm amazed. Robin Hobb's characters are the most fascinating of any I've ever read about. I just love Fitz and the Fool.

So far I think I like Fool's Errand and Golden Fool even better than the first series. Maybe it's just that the characters are more detailed the more you read about them. Or maybe because now Fitz is closer to my age, hehe.

Right now reading War of the Flowers by Tad Willliams after seeing folks talk about it here on this board. So far, pretty good. Reminds me of Charles de Lint.

Far as Tad Williams is concerned, I have only read his SF books, Otherland, and not his fantasy. I read his SF first and was disapointed that he switched to fantasy with Dragonbone Chair. Backwards from most folks, I know, hehe. Hmm think I read Tailchaser's Song, too. Long ago, slept since then.

When's the next Hobb come out?

I'm also reading War of the Flowers (started last night), but not because of anything said on this board, rather because I enjoy Tad Williams' work (especially Otherland).
I've actually been avoiding reading any comments about the book so I can come at it with a fresh perspective.

I'll be interested in seeing your comments when you're done SusF - I seem to remember you being a Michael Chabon fan as well?

I started today on Robert Ludlums, Bourne Identity. It's not fantasy, but I'm reading it so I'll put it in here. It seems to pretty much follow the plot of the movie, wich I've seen, so I doubt I'll really get into this book. BUT, what I never knew till just recently is that it is a trilogy. I'm looking forward to the next two books!

I'm also working my way through Shadow Moon, by George Lucas and Chris Claremont. Yes I got sucked in by the Lucas name. But I'd been eye-balling it for a few months, and finaly picked it up from the library to see how it starts... So far it is okay, but nothing spectacular.

I am also deep in the hunt for a copy of Barclay's Noonshade. The primary bookstores, both brick and online don't seem to carry it on a regular basis. Amazon.com doesn't even take orders for it. While at Borders the computer told me to place a request and it would be there in two or three weeks, but online Borders is telling me to suck a lemon, so I'm confronted with conflicting messages... There are a few copies I've come across that are used, but I don't want to get those... This will probably prove to be a frustrating serries to read, if this is how it will be to find all the books...

Just finished Faerie Tale for the book club, and I'm now finishing the last few chapters of A Game of Thrones (re-read).

Next? Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
(I know everyone else has read this already!).

I'm reading various things right now. Just finished Faerie Tale (also for book club).

And I'm reading The Pillars of the Earth (again) as well as a few non-fiction books - The New Believers (a book about sects, cults and alternative religions) and Wicca for Life as well as Practicing Good Magik.

Plus I have yet again discovered the joys of Terry Pratchett (along with the joys of Pez dispensers, but that's a different story altogether).

I can't seem to find new books that hold my interest for very long :(

Drbloodmoney:

Sandman is indeed excellent. Gaiman's great, and Dave Mckean, who's responsible for the covers, is amazing.

Just finished the last Dennis Lehane novel I had to read, Prayers for Rain, and I'm sad to say that. I really enjoyed his books. Now there's no more. Excellent book, though.

Started Jim Btucher's Storm Front last night. So far, so good.
