I know this isn't a Sci-Fi or Fantasy topic, but....

Well, my Dad is really into westerns and wants to start reading the Louis Lamour western novels. I know that there are some people on this board that like western novels, so I was wondering if some of you could please suggest in what order he should read Lamour's novels and where he should start. I myself am not a big western fan, so I don't know what to tell him myself. The only westerns that look interesting to me is the fantasy/sci-fi westerns such as David Gemmel's trilogy on that outlaw guy called "The Jerusalem Man", but this is for my Dad that I'm asking information on Lamour's westerns. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

It has been a long time since I read L'Amour's westerns. I was reading them between 1975 and 1988. If I remember correctly even though he follows certain families in his series each book is a stand alone. Some characters may have a recurring roles, like if they are brothers or cousins, but each story is complete in itself. So just pick one up and start! I hope this helps a little.

My Grandad used to devour Louis L'Amour books and Mum had to get them from the library and check that they didn't have his "already read" mark in place (um-ah that's a very bad thing to do I know). Anyway, there was no set order that I know of, as SueVee said, he just didn't like reading the same one twice.
