Isn't the internet just great?

It's rather amusing how you can find people within a matter of seconds when using the 'net. Makes all those little spy stories etc seem so credible.

For instance, tonight I was looking for a friend of mine's new tel number (I got a digit wrong & wanted to phone her, but no-one knows what the new number is since she's living in the UK & hasn't checked her e-mail in yonks). So I searched for a UK directory & typed in her name - et voilas - not only do I get her home number, but her home address, mobile number and PO Box too - just about everything but her bra size.

Just one more reason why I don't like giving my real name on discussion boards - thank gods my number's not listed - last thing I need is some weirdo after me

Kaz, in all honesty the weirdo has more chance of being on your street and in the next office.

Ok, you can fall foul of someone on the net, just as likely in real life..

Oh for fun, put your "real name" in Google. When I do it I come up as a Doctor among other things..... lol......

It's even funnier when you do an 'image' search for yourself - I turned out to be a really fat school teacher in Missississippi :D

Nope - she was a random victim of my sick sense of humour I'm afraid

I put my name it found all the orchestras and bands I've been in, sort of freaky.

Guess next time I get dumped with the words "I need to find myself" I'll just direct the sorry sod to the Google - the internet God, got a better chance of finding yourself there than on some silly spiritual voyage

The digital age is corrupting us all.

Speak for yourself. I was corrupt well before the internet appeared.
