Hi!

I'm trying to find the author and title of a novel I read many, many years ago.

Possible title: Simulacra 3
Possible author: ????
Possible pub. date: 1963

This is NOT the P.K. Dick novel, "The Simulacra".

Story (as I remember): In the near future a polling corporation is attempting to build a computer system to simulate the population so they might conduct simulated polls. In their world, people are constantly being stopped and asked their opinions about everything from products to political leanings.
The project is being sabotaged and the main character is trying to find out who is behind it.

*** [SPOILER ahead]

It turns out the world is a simulation for doing exactly that; polling the population. The project is being sabataged by us ("real" people).

[END SPOILER] ***

My attempts to track this book down on the 'net have been severly curtailed due to P.K. Dick's novel (The Simulacra). All search roads lead to Dick (joke not intentional).

Thanks for any help you can provide!
