The house is ablaze, smoke is pouring into your lungs and there's barely a moment left to spare before the whole place comes crashing down around your ears.

On the bookshelf you see your Lensman and Stainless Steel Rat collections - unfortunately you've only got the hands to carry one group of books.

Which do you choose to save, and more importantly - why?

LOL.... I love these threads, Mugwump! Dilemmas with a twist...

OK - the Stainless Steel Rat books are thinner and weigh less, but are easier to replace in the UK at the moment than the Lensman series, so I'll go Lensman (even though they are very corny!) :) Nostalgia value....*sigh*

Now if they were signed hardbacks.... :)

OK - what about the dog and the kids? :)

Whoops ... forgot!
Well, we must get our priorities right, after all! ;) :D

Has to be the Stainless Steel Rat books, mainly because I read them when I was twelve, and spent an embarrassing amount of mental effor trying to figure out how I could actually be a daring and successful criminal. They have sentimental value. And are funnier.
I would also grab the old copies of 2000AD that had the Stainless Steel Rat comic strip in them, which was how I discovered the character in the first place.

Ah, but you didn't say comics, too.... :)

Yes, I loved the 2000AD strips too. Think they are being published/about to be published from 2000AD as HB collectors books!

BTW Hobbit – practical reasoning is prohibited here.

You must consign one set of books to the flames and save another for reasons based purely on instinctive preference. :D

*sigh*
That's me - "think head, not heart......" :D

In which case it would be Stainless Steel Rat.... one of the few intentionally humourous series I've found funny. Tricky, this humour stuff. Having said that, I have a feeling his stuff isn't that easy to get anymore either :)

There we go - practicals again!

well as I don't have any of the 'Lensman' series and I only have one Stainless Steel Rat book so I suppose I'd have to get that :)

Sorry, not a Spam section... I edit my post.

I don't have either of those books. I'd grab my teady bear.
