I like Greek and Nose mythology. Roman is, IMO, almost identical to Greek just with different names, unless you are talking about reading the myths in their original form by Virgil*, etc.
*is that how you spell his name?

he he. Behold, the great nose. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
from enc. myth.:
Abaangui: A Native American god who cut off his huge nose. The nose then flew into the sky and became the moon
Killmoulis: The Killmoulis is a very ugly creature who dwells in mills. He has an enormous nose but no mouth. He probably eats by stuffing food through his nostrils.

I never enjoyed Greek or Roman mythology, and despised teaching it. I much prefer any sort of Asian mythology, but esp Chinese. I am fascinated by all things Asian (except the food) so I guess that is why. Their mythology almost reminds me more of fairy tales than actually mythology, but I guess all those things have a similiar aura about them.

I too love angels and demons myths, but they are very hard to carry off without being all preachy either for or against christianity. I enjoyed the Peretti novels though.
For the main though I like Norse mythology. They seem more real and gritty to me than the rest. Celtic stuff seems wild but often a little silly too. The Norse legends have more of a feel of real, down to earth fighting men to me than the souped up stories of the greeks (which are also fascinating, but lack the same bleak realism I feel).

Songwind - A good fantasy series based on Norse Mythology is Mickey Reichart's Renshai Series. I am not very good at synopsis. I usually give away to much or not enough. But here it goes. Basically, this series is about the only survivor of a legendary warrior/berserker tribe who attempts to rebuild his tribe teaching the Renshai's ideology of combat. In the process he used by Norse gods, fights some godss, befriends others, becomes a god, and fights in Raganok and survives. I really enjoyed this series.

celtic mythology is my favourite followed by Norse and then Finnish (the Kalevala.) i never like Greek and roman myths--the gods were too 'almighty' while the celtic and norse ones were more earthy.

I love Homer's Ilias and Odysee. Must go and read it again.
