Many a times I've been called an old hippie because of my likes for s-f. For some strange reason this is the perception of non-readers of the genre towards us.

How many of you out there are old, current or aspiring hippie's.

Hippiedom is a rather complex and obtuse subject, especially for those who did not experience the 60's and 70's to see how it came about. I remember being called such simply because of my preference for op art at the time, but I was also a musician and closer to the actual scene, much of which occurred around Greenwich Village in NYC. The clubs were the Cafe Wha, Trudy Hellers, the remnants from Birdland etc. I recall days playing chess in Washington Square, trying to avoid looking at the flower people who infiltrated all parts of the culture back then. It was a new world.
