hi
im planning on subscribing to 1 or 2 fantasy related magazines (depending on price.) and could use some reccomendation on which are worth it.
Ok.. now first off, while i like horror and science fiction, fantasies are still my favorite stories.
These are the magazines ive been able to find:
Realms of Fantasy ($16 for 6 issues)
The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction ($30 for 11 issues)
Asimov's Science Fiction ($30 for 11)
Analong Science Fiction ($30 for 11)

Are any of these magazines any good? or do you know of any other ones that are worth subscribing to?

thanks
kyle

oh yeah.. forgot.. the reason i dont just buy a single issue is that my local bookstore (walden's) doesnt carry any of these titles

Usually on the magazine's websites, you are able to buy just a single issue. As with which ones are best, I am not quite sure. I haven't read any of those, although Realms of Fantasy did look interesting.

Hi
I don't know anything about Fantasy Realms but I know that Analog is a strictly science fiction magazines that emphasizes on the prospect of science in the story( so u might want to consider other options if you are intrested in fantasy stories too. I am currently subscribed to Fantasy and Science Fiction magazine and i think its good. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Realms of Fantasy has short stories, book reviews and a section each issue devoted to a particular artist (brief biosketch and some of his/her illustrations).

I'd go to the bookstore and check out each one before buying.

Have you exhausted the free online magazines?

There are some very high quality ones out there.

Of those magazines you listed, they are also the most famous with the widest circulation. They are additionally the most prestigious for aspiring writers and the hardest to get accepted by. Any of them will serve you well.

Penumbra... I have just noted your occupation in your profile, does this mean Erebus and myself can now refer to ourselves as 'younger members'. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I am only joking with you my friend, and no offence intended, welcome to the forum... we need more 'mature' members to keep the children in order...

... are you listening Shehzad? http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
