Ok, I know this has nothing to do with writing and so it will probably be moved. Anyways, I was looking through the www.runelords.com (http://www.runelords.com) forum because I post there, and this is what I found:
http://www.malazan.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=5&t=000387

The fact the lord roa zoul can dig up that much about me is appaling! Sorry about the above spelling errors, but just imagine if this happenened to you?! This guy somehow found out my AIM name, name on this chat, and one in three other forum web sites!

Hi FF, you're right in that this topic doesn't belong here, and I will of course have to move it to General Discussion (sorry - Forum policy, nothing personal http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif )

In relation to the points you raise, all of our information which we have ourselves provided, is available to all other members who care to have a look at our profile etc. whether it be here or other forums or through instant messengers etc. But I agree with you, it's wise to be careful what info you impart to any web site.

I agree...

The information that LRZ was able to gather is ONLY what you have allowed to posted on the 'Public Domain'. If you have AIM installed, you need to create an 'identity(s)'... which can be accessed by other AIM members, this is the case with Yahoo, Hotmail and ICQ.

If you don't want this to happen... find the approppriate option in AIM (I don't have it), and select any option thay stops other AIM members from seeing your profile.

Don't get to paranoid about this, as regards Runelords knowing you posted on SFFW... you know how this happened! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
