I see what you mean about titles. Could they not have come up with something better than Die Herren von Winterfell?

Nimea,

Not sure what happened but when I tried to look at the Martin covers in German, I got this page:
? what does this mean ? (http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/ref%3Dsr%5Fsp%5Fgo%5Fqs/028-5548137-7102905) . I think it has something to do with my web browser, but I can't understand what.

I get nervous when the first word on the page is: "Achtung: ":D

Anybody seen Steve White's Forge of the Titans cover? It looked sci-fi but I saw it on the fantasy section. Anyways, it looks really weird but the naked woman caught my attention. What was this about?

FicusFan,
I know what you mean. But 'Fehler' is even worse than 'Achtung'. ;)
And I just got the same while using my link . . . well, I use Mozilla Firebird . . . mmmh . . . very interesting.

Anyone who knows why there is an error?

Trying it again: click here (http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=books-de&field-keywords=george%20martin&bq=1/ref=sr_aps_all/028-0158913-4336505).

So, does it work now?

Nimea, in my opinion, those covers are certainly very weak and lame compared to the U.S. covers and the U.K. covers!

Some other cover art a like is the U.S. ROC covers to the novels by Guy Gavriel Kay. They look very medieval art inspired and, what can I say, I'm a sucker for medieval art. :D
But even more than the U.S. Roc covers, I enjoy the U.K. covers of the Fionavar Tapestry done by John Howe:

I also like the cover of the Canada omnibus edition of the Fionavar Tapestry, done by Ted Nasmith:

And, my personal faves, the french editions of the Fionavar Tapestry, done by Emmanuel Civiello

In my opinion, the Howe, Nasmith and Civiello covers are so much more epic and darker looking than the U.S. Roc edition covers, and I really wish that they would be released as U.S. edition covers.

Nimea,

I haven't been ignoring you, I just haven't been on the computer since I wrote that. Yes the new link did work. Thanks. :)

Don't know what 'Fehler' means, so it doesn't bother me. :)

I have to say that some of the covers I liked. The first one with the dragons was very dramatic. There were couple with guys and weapons that looked sappy. Not sure which ones are part of SOIF after the first couple though, because of the language. Looking at some of his other books, I loved the cover for Windhaven - beautiful and very apt.

Those French covers really are nice, Zsinj, especially the one for The Summer Tree. I love covers that have that sort of dreamy look.

Many of MZB's covers have that sort of look. I like this one the best.

I also love the covers for LeGuin's two new Earthsea books: The Other Wind and Tales of Earthsea. These pictures I found are just for the paperbacks, but the hardcovers were even nicer: very shimmery, irridescent and ethereal looking.

Sorry, but I've never really cared for Marion Zimmer Bradley's covers. They just look too girlish and fluffy to me, then again that may have something to do with the fact that I can't stand Marion Zimmer Bradley. No offense, though. :)
