As most of you here know, I've finished the "Dragonlance Chronicles Trilogy" amd I must say I absolutely loved the ending!!

I liked the dark ending, where Raistlin is bordering on the brink of becoming an evil sorcerer and enters the foreboding, dark Tower of High Sorcery at Palanthas, thus fulfilling the dark prophecy of the Master of the Past and Present.
END SPOILER!

This is such a great ending and leaves so many loose ends untied that you just want to jump into reading the "Dragonlance Legends Trilogy"! (Which I indeed plan to do after I read some other Sci-Fi and Fantasy novels first.)
This ending, in my opinion, was also such a great alternative from the typical, joyous, "hero-gets-the-girl-and-rides-off- into-the-sunset" ending.

I was having a tough time recalling this ending until you spelled it out because as you say it wasn't really an ending. The ending to Legends was more conclusive and IMO even better. It would have been great if they'd just left it off at that. Sadly that ending was spoiled with the creation of Dragons of Summer Flame which was an absolute travesty. My suggestion: read Legends but avoid Summer Flame.

This is one of the many things about the Dragon Lance saga that has gotten millions hooked on the saga. The only thing that I can say is do not think that this is unique to Weiss and Hickman books. Many of the others are great as well.
