I do realise they're very very mch young fiction ie. 12 yr olds :P but i love them. first read song of the lioness quartet and then the immortals. also read protector of the small but didnt think it was as good. usually come in sets of 4. each book only takes a couple of hours to read. i usually read them when i cant be bothered to start something big and just want to read something :P. anyway if you've read them let me know what you thought of her stuff,

My gosh I haven't thought about these books since I read them when I was about 12 and that is the third mentioning of them in the past month! Well I read them about 8 years ago and remember nothing but I liked them.
Maybe I should read them again for the fun of it after His Dark Materials that is

I've read a few hundred reviews of her work through the book reviews here, most of which run along the lines of 'THIS BOOK (or books) ROCKS...' They are clearly a popular read for the YA's.

yeh. they are written simply but i love the plot lines and stuff :P. when im bored on a weekend ill just spend a day reading them. theyre good reads every once in a while. And to Hobbit, that's why i only read newspaper reviews :P. i hate dealing with peoples reviews that are my age or younger. If i can't write one, why can someone 6 years younger than me write one? :P. anyway my insane, hypocritical world comes into play about here again :/

I love Tamora Pierce's work, I know they are considered Kids books, but they are so good that I still reread them... I have been into fantasy since i could read 'chapter books in year 2, and Tamora was one of the ones i started out on.. and is still one of my favourites... That they are classified as kids books shouldn't detract from the actual stories... although it still feels weird going into the kids section of the library :) I can't remeber which book i started with but it was one of the Lioness ones and I've been hooked ever since (which is a fairly long time considering I am 20 in a couple of weeks) :p

I just read her new one, i think its called Magic Steps, from the new series Circle opens... Robyn, it says your from T'ville too (that spun me out :) ) well if you haven't read this one yet I am taking it back to the aitkenvale library soon...

(which is a fairly long time considering I am 20 in a couple of weeks) Well at the moment, Jacquelynne, the reading of 'childrens' or YA fiction by 'adults' is very much en vogue. I've always thought the genre name misleading anyway - a good read is a good read!

If I mentioned JK Rowling, Garth Nix, Philip Pullman, not to mention the old perennials CS Lewis & JRR Tolkien, all of whom have been claimed to be writing 'children's fiction', (but all of which are being read by adults) then that may be the case. There are others... though I think that there are parts of Dark Materials and LotR that are definitely there for adults!

Loki - might be worth a look through the book reviews here. They are written by people of all ages, older and younger!

:o I am from TOwnsville at least for the next month or so. wow that spun me out something chronic. I haven't read the circle opens as such. I try to avoid going to the library cos everytime i show up there the book im looking for (and its 4 copies) all seem to be misplaced or on loan grrr at libraries. but im probably heading over that way later this week :P. anyway, its a small world i guess :p
