Last year I think someone made a point of pointing out that Canada was the No. 1 place in the world to live. Well, I just thought you would like to know that this year's U.N. Human Development Report ranks Norway No. 1 http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif.

And Australia has the second highest suicide rate in the world......what a sickening display of human mentality. Living so well that we feel we have nothing to live for.
Selfish.

Thank you Dag. This article was most useful at work today - my sixth form found it most interesting. One question that they asked that I had to admit I didn't know the answer to - the maternity time is good, but what about paternity time? Don't know if you know, but it was an interesting point.

Here's the actual report:
The UN Development Report Human Development Index (http://www.undp.org/hdr2001/indicator/pdf/hdr_2001_table_1.pdf)

You'll need Adobe Acrobat.

Oooops.

Somehow missed this one up til now. Shehzad, you can have sympathy if you do 2 things for me:
1)Tell me why you don't just leave if you dislike it there so much
2)Give ME sympathy cos I'm trying really hard to write an essay about whether or not Hippocratic Medicine was 'Scientific' or 'Rational', and its hard cos it means sitting in front of the computer and the internet keeps tempting me away and i think i might die before I've done enough to be able to go home for the night (It's gone 9pm already)

Ok?

Hobbit, lets see if I can get this right (I've no children yet so I'm not to familiar with all the rules here http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif). Well, first of all the parents can choose to take either 42 weeks with full salary or 52 weeks with 80% salary, and they can actually divide this time between them as they themselves think is best, however the father has to take at least 4 weeks paternity leave. In addition to this he also gets to take 2 weeks when the child is born.
