The Eye of the World, because it's the first, maybe Winter's Heart because of Rand's accomplishment...Whats your favorite WOT novel, and whats so great about it???

I'm re-reading the WoT for a laugh over christmas.

It's rather different the third time around, having to prod myself through the slower patches. In my mind also as I work through each volume is a kind of mental picture of Jordan's ego growing ever bigger until it strangled his good sense and squeezed his editor out the window of a tall building.

In terms of 'quality' in an objective sense I'd most highly rate books two through five. Personally I remember 'The Shadow Rising' most fondly, mainly because I really felt an affinity with what Perrin went through upon his return to Emond's field. Like the old saying goes, 'Once you leave, you can never really go home.'

1. Eye of The World
2. Lord of Chaos
3. The Great Hunt

And the finale of Winter's Heart is my favourite scene.

Mine was always The Shadows Rising. I guess it's because that's when they get to the waste.

The shadow rising is my LEAST favorite of books 1 - 6 (havnt read 7 up yet) which is closely follow by lord of chaos in boring terms.

I think the prophet is one of the most intriguing characters of the series, I cant wait to read more about that guy...

And I can't wait to see what Padan Fain has in store for mr. Rand Al'Thor...

I got a feeling that Rand will unite every nation including Seanchan and the isle of the madmen...and the forsaken to his allegiance.

I can't really think. For me the series has sort of merged into one big, very long, book. If I recall correctly The Dragon Reborn is my favourite. Someone mentioned the climax of Winter's Heart, did no one else get the image of one big paint balling games, with lots of women creeping through the forest?

I liked book 1. But then it went downhill. I'm on book 10 now so I'm clearly addicted even if I find much of it boring. The thing is once in a while he throws in a real gem of a scene in amongst all the rubbish. That's generally at the start or end of the books.

I think sometimes people mistake the quality of Jordan's writing to whether or not it is gripping or interesting. I think Jordan is a great writer; the detail he dutifully puts into things is always there, even if it makes the story as boring as a bread sandwich.

I don't mean to nitpick, but isn't being 'boring as a bread sandwich' sort of the antithesis of a 'great writer'?

He certainly is a very visual writer though, with a very vivid picture of everything he writes about, I have to agree with that.

Book 2 had my favorite ending, by far... it seemed surreal. But in general, the first half of the series is amazing. Boox 6 had my next favorite ending, and book 9 had a good ending as well. But I just read Book 10 and the reviews are correct, it's the worst of the series (by far). It still has a few good parts, but FEW is the key word here. I only hope the last two or three volumes are less dry and irrelevant, and some of the action and excitement actually comes back.

The Dragon Reborn and the battle with Ba'alzamon. I remember reading the events that led up to the battle with excitement. After I finished the book I thought "What a great ending." It seemed like it could have been the ending to the series. Of course there were loose ends to tie up and plots to continue. Over all I like 1-6 the best. After the Lord of Chaos I stopped reading the series for quite awhile. After book nine came out I started over and read the whole series again up to book nine. I still like the series but feel that 1-6 were the best. Now when I read WOT it's like reading about old friends. "Rand and the gang"
