I guess I'm in a good position, because now that I've started, I've got a LOT of reading to do!
I've often thought about it but never thought I'd get into fantasy. Like lots of people now, I'm into LOTR and my brother, who reads a lot of fantasy, said that that is excellent fantasy and so is WOT. So...I started. It takes commitment to start a huge series like that, methinks.
Now I'll be hanging out here some too.

Hiya, hope you enjoy the series. If you have any questions don't be shy:). Don't read any of the other threads in this forum as most contain spoilers:) .

NOOOOOOOOO !!!!! Go back! Don't start WoT! It's not finished yet, and probably never will be. Don't do it!

Try something that's done like Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn by Tad Williams or the Fionovar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay.

It's not too late for you. Save yourself!

BTW What's up with Bill Elliot's car as your sig?

Too late...

He's there cuz that's the way I want it!!
j/k
I've been a fan for a long time. That avatar is the picture of him crossing the bricks as a winner last year at the Brickyard 400.
It's too bad he's cutting back, but at least he's still gonna race some.
Thanks for noticing!

Just a hint, take it slow..

I vaguely remember starting the WOT series so many years ago and while I don't regret reading the series, I have no patience and it seems that I am desperately waiting for the next book.

I sometimes think that I will die of old age before the series finishes

It's good. You'll enjoy it...

But yes, it's unfinished, the plot SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWS down after book 5, and the 1000's of pages make me wonder if it's really worth the effort.

I would recommend Martin's a Song of Ice and Fire over the WoT, although Martin's isn't done yet either (only 3 of 6 are published), and it's taking YEARS for book 4...

Why don't you read some completed Fantasy series first?

It's a wonder anyone reads WoT anymore.

Well, I don't think it's that big a deal. I read lots of stuff (from Clancy and Grisham, to Phillip K. Dick and KSR among other things--remember this is my *first* step into fantasy, besides LOTR) so I don't think the time frame will ever be bad. It'll prolly be a couple of years before I catch up to Mr. Jordan so....
It's a wonder anyone reads WoT anymore.
Well, there are always new humans being born so there will always be someone for everything...:D
