What about a Books-For-Sale forum?

I think it would be great if we could get a books for sale forum going...a place to privately list the books you don't read anymore. I have a lot of good books that I'd love to get rid of at super cheap prices...and this would be an excellent place to do so...any thoughts?

Intresting idea, and I will be sure to pass your comments on.

There are many countries where Fantasy and SF is very hard to find, or it takes years for current books to be published. The idea of selling (or swapping) un-needed books between members does appeal, but I will say no more until I have spoken to Dag.

Those are my thoughts exactly. I mean, I recently had to go and shell out 10 bucks for a nasty paperback of a Steven Erikson book...plus pay 5 bucks shipping and handling from some website. I'm sure there are people on the forums that would LOVE the chance to sell/swap their old stuff. You ALWAYS see people pulling their hair out because they can't find the authors published in other countries. I've had wonderful experiences with a similar forum on a dirtbike site, selling/buying stuff. I'll be anxiously waiting for responses from the other moderators! Please consider it well!

Good idea! I'm always sending books to people I meet on-line. Sometimes it's a trade, sometimes not, but it benefits both of us.

Right now I'm picking up all the Theodore Sturgeon, Fredric Brown and Edgar Pangborn I can find, in whatever condition. If anyone has any, let me know what your price is and I'll send you a good check.

Nothing to trade right now, because I participate in those box-o-books things, and I just got rid of all my non-keeper fantasy and SF in one of those.

I know of a book trade forum. You can specify what area you want to trade in (since you pay the postage) and you get a point everytime you mail a book to someone. You can spend that point on any book on offer. Traders are given reliability ratings too so if someone is notoriously lazy you can avoid asking them for something.

It is a spec fic group... shall I post the link or is this something sffworld is going to do themselves.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the moderators think. Requesting all the features (ratings, etc) you mentioned may be a bit of a hassle....I just think it'd be nice to have permission to privately buy/sell/trade books on this forum.

I'd post the link if i were you, Rocketsheep - it sounds like s'thing quite a few people are interested in. And if we get our own here, then people will just have to change over.... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

But the problem with that its a forum for TRADING books...I want to BUY/SELL books here, man...it wouldnt take much, just an extra forum listing!

Let everyone see what is out there already and see if you can come up with a better way.

Remember half of us only earn 'funny money' anyway, exchange rates etc would only confuse us.

That's a pretty darn cool site, Rocketsheep.
