I'm off to Toronto at the end of this week. I have to go for a portfolio assessment at Sheridan College for their Illustration program. For those of you who haven't heard about Sheridan it's on of the most prestigious design colleges in Canada (ever heard of Pixar?). So if I get accepted someday it may be my artwork gracing the cover of one of your favourite books some day. Anyway, I hear their pretty harsh in their judgement of work so there's a good chance I won't be accepted (I'm pretty darn good, though).
I'll let you know how I did next week.

Good luck saintjon. As I've said before, Fantasy covers need all the help they can get.

Dezzizm: I only have one piece on computer which isn't really my best... I guess I could e-mail it if you wanted me to.
Hey, do we have a place on this site where we can submit artwork? If not shouldn't we? I mean it's all well and good to submit short stories and stuff but fantasy art is still fantasy, right?
BTW, thanks for the support and smiley faces!
Regardless, I'll have to wait til I'm back home before I can put my picture anywhere.

Great idea, Saintjon. I have a ton of artwork scanned into my computer, but since I know very little about web-design, have never had much of a way to display it. Hint, hint.

Yeah someone with some influence *cough cough* moderators *COUGH* should mention it to Dag.
Thanks again for the support guys. I'll let you know how it went when they let me know. It was very impersonal. There was this huge line of people and you dropped your portfolio off with some guys in a room and they told you to come back and pick it up later. I don't think I even saw any of the people who did the assessments. I have high hopes but my friend said that there were over a THOUSAND PEOPLE there... that doesn't even include the people who mailed in their portfolios. Good God, if I do get accepted I'll be pretty damn proud just to have gotten into the program.

Jeez Louise, these youngsters! Rule #1: Only show people your best work. Did you go to that college and say to the panel, "This is just something I tossed off without thinking, but you should see what I can do when I REALLY put my mind to it"? Of course not, you showed them your best work. Make that a rule to live by. Showing people (anyone, except perhaps your Mom, who will love anything you do) inferior work will only make them think less of your talents. Don't.
