Website builders .... hosting ....

Thought about doing my own website - a fairly basic one to host CV, work information - hobbies, photos and maybe a message board etc. But not sure which programe to use.

There are some ery easy to use online selft builders but then they tie you to the site and if they go bust or close down you lose everything!

My main requirements are :-

(1) Something secure - perhaps designing offline - therefore if a host stops trading you still have your website on the hardrive ready to upload to a new host.
(2) Something very easy to use! I don't know HTML, sop the easier the better!
(3) Not after anything too complex really - just as user friendly as possible.

Any recommendation of a host would be useful too.

Thanks for any help

For hosting I can recommend www.scifiwebhost.com

Their packages are great and very affordable with heaps of inclusions, disk space and bandwidth transfer.

I think that they are even offering some free web design at the moment. Check them out and see what you think.

Before you use a programe try THIS (http://www.htmlgoodies.com/) site , it will teach you how to build a web page/site using notepad or word . Pretty interesting stuff and easy to do . Have been playing around with it myself then using one of the free HTML kits from download.com , the kit will have all the options at hand eg. font , page color (colour) without having to dig out codes etc .It will give you a better understanding of what it is you are doing .

Anyhow have fun !!!!:)

Frontpage can be used to design your own site or if you don't have office pro then word can also be used as I did with my site here (http://raggedstaff.com). It is a very simple site, but as I created all the pages myself I can (and do) constantly update it to improve the way it looks. It would be better however if you understood a little http. A great site I found useful as a complete beginner was here (http://www.w3schools.com/).

As to hosting I can't help, I am lucky enough to have a friend who owns and runs an ISP and so get my hosting for beer... :D
