I read an interview with Terry Goodkind from November of last year, and he said that quite a few important directors have been in contact with him regarding the making of WFR into a motion picture.

The main concerns were of course with the length of the book. It takes 120 pages of manuscript to fill a 2 hour movie, whereas WFR would be 1200 pages of manuscript! This is according to the website where I read the interview. I'm not exactly sure of all the details like that, but I do know if that is correct, then it could cause some serious problems in making the movie. A trilogy would be necessary for just the one book!

ANyways, what does everyone think? Anyone have any casting ideas? I think that could be hard. But let's give it a try, shall we?

Hmmm that's a toughy, would make an interesting movie I think, though I could envision maybe a Feist movie being a bit more successfull, but anyways...

Richard- Russell Crowe

Khalan (thinks that's how her name was spelled)- hmm may have to skip that one for now...though I'm thinking Penelope Cruz

Darken Rhal- that guy who plays Hannible Lecter

That's weird, because, Russell Crowe was the only casting call I could come up with for RIchard! Darken Rahl would have to be young though, as he is supposed to be the most handsome man many have ever seen. I don't think I'd ever be able to figure out who to cast as these characters. Hopefully a good director comes on board and works with Goodkind.

I was actually thinking Ralph Fiennes as Darken Rahl. And again, that is weird, because, he played in the Hannibal movie as the killer, but he didn't play Hannibal.

Richard Gere as Darken Rahl. I believe he could pull off menacing if given the chance, though he wouldn't put himslef in the position.

For Zedd I would have gone Gregory Peck, but for Obvious reasons I can't, so Richard Harris (Seen wrestling Ernest Hemingway?) but I can't go him either so I don't know, Jeff Bridges?

Kahlan: Selma Blair. For some reason she has the right coutenance for what I believe Kahlan to have.

Richard? Guy Pearce or that other Australian who was in x-men.

Shirley MacClaine as the blind witchy woman.

Famke Janssen as the red leathered dominatrix.

I like some of those ideas. I like the dude from X-men as Richard, although he is in that upcoming movie about the guy who is hunting down Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman. That actually could be a cool movie, but that for a whole other thread! :) Anyways, I think Richard Gere would be pretty good, but like you said, probably wouldn't accept it.
Peter O'toole would have made the perfect Zed, but he's not around anymore.
How bout Kevin Spacey for that greasy haired painter guy? Nah, Spacey would never take such a small role. Bahhh, this is very hard!!!!!!!!!!

Paul Newman for Zedd adn instead of Spacey, possibly Woody Harrelson.

 Um, Kegasaurus, iirc, Richard Harris is no longer with us...

Anyway, might be that a good movie could be made but only if it strayed from the books, which I found to be incessantly dull, flat and predictable...

That's why I said I couldn't go with ihm either.

We're not gonna get into this whole argument again I hope! If you wanna argue about the book being good or not, go do it on the WFR here's what I think thread. Don't come in here startin static.
