I was just wondering, have any of you guys on this board been spammed or harassed by religious fanatics online? You know, the nutty, annoying people that say that sci-fi, fantasy, and horror is evil and all that crap.
I, thankfully, have never had an encounter like that and I hope I never do!! But has an encounter like that ever happened on this board, and if so, what did you guys do about it?

I haven't been here long enough to see the spam flying, but I work in a general bookstore, run and staffed by Christians (it's a bridging thing) and we get lots of people who are horrified that we sell fantasy and science fiction. You shoulda seen some of the things we dealt with when Harry Potter was getting so much publicity.
"Aren't you a *Christian* bookstore?"
"Well, technically, no. But even if we were... pshaw to you."

I BEG YOUR PARDON DENNIZM!!!!

What a rotten liar you are!

I hope you realise my reputation is now in tatters and its gonna take a damn lot of flowers to get you out of this MATE. Insane?..........You ain't seen nothin' yet. *laughs evilly and wanders off to find an online copy of the bible to email to dennizm*

Only kidding of course http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif (At least I put a smiley in there so everyone knows I'm joking).

I've been on here since November I think, and haven't seen anything like that. Seen that kinda crap in the newspapers, like that nut-job in New Mexico who was burning HP books. As Bugs Bunny would say "Whatta maroon!"

I have one vote for E-Morgana being sane
And 1 vote for Dennizm being completely screwy.

Hmm. Well, I hate to think we're all being deprived, so I can go all zealot-ish if you like? http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

There are plenty non religous zealots (does it exist? Extremely passionate people at any rate) on the fantasy board. Simply mention any of the following words followed by the word "rules" or the word "sucks":
Tolkien
Goodkind
Jordan
Martin
Eddings

What about "rules sook!"? Or "sook rules!"?

Do I get more points for the use of both? http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Thank you Carmichael!

Now I may be able to hold my head up again without people looking at me too oddly. (Unless they've read the Mod Mods topic, that is http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif)
