Can someone please explain to me how I can post a reply with a quote from a previous post? Am I just being a bit dense or is there some sort of code required (something I'm completely useless with!)?
Kamakhya, you use this function a lot...maybe you can explain it for me?

There's clearly some complicated HTML thing you can do, but my own preferred approach is to copy the passage, enclose it in quotes, then change a few words so the person sounds a little silly.

Have a look at this HELP PAGE (http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/ubbcode.html) for instructions for quotes, and other UBB codes you can use here at the forum. I hope you'll find all you need to know there.

I'll also move this to General Discussion now, as it's not really a SF topic!

Hehehe....Vortex, that last post where I quoted you was my first attempt at such a thing and if you look more closely, you will see I thoroughly messed it up!
Thanks Erebus for the link. Basically, you just copy the text, type "[quote ]" and "[ /quote]" (no spaces) before and aft and there you go.
What I want to know is how to put in happy faces. Is that an aol thing or something?
Also, any way to do a spell check?

Okay, to edit your post, just click on the paper and pencil icon that's at the top of each post.
For Smilies, click HERE (http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/faq.html#smilies). Also, the top of most forum pages has the FAQ link, which will help you with most forum queries...I hope! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Oh...we don't have a spell check facility either - sorry!

Thanks!
It would be really good if there was a 'reply with quote' function here like there is on other boards I post on. Basically, you reply from within the post you want to quote from. Your post then says something like: "Originally posted by XYX:" and then shows the quote. None of this cutting and pasting!

Yes, I've noticed that!
