does anyone know any good IRC channels dedicated to fantasy and/or sci-fi, or does anyone have msn or icq and feel like a chat because none of my friends really like fantasy in particular and this is my only real outlet to discuss it.

Loque:
I've moved this to General Discussion. I believe there is a topic either in GD or Suggestions, comments, feedback regarding IRC/MSN & ICQ.

I've looked around a bit for a good irc channel to talk about fantasy but most of them are scarcely populated. On DALnet the online RP channels have a decent following...the channels usually have word "inn" somewhere in channel name, like #Storm's_Mist_Inn or something is one of them...people basically just talk in character and use /me for actions. I would be interested if you did find another good place to talk about fantasy besides these forums..

I run a fantasy community with a chat that I think is pretty good. There is a diverse group of readers. The topic is obviously not always fantasy books, but if you bring up a book people are always sure to respond if they've read it. It is usually pretty busy in the US evenings and European afternoons, but can be pretty dead in the European morning time.
There is also a message board, but it is often off topic. The chat is really the heart and soul of the community. I am always on the look out for good fantasy communities b/c I am an online junkie and I really haven't found that many good general fantasy chats.
