What are some of the best action films of all time?

Personally I always liked "Heat" starring Deniro, Pacino, and Kilmer. That bank heist scene is once of the most incredible shootouts in film. And of course Braveheart, tons of awesome action sequences...and Enter the Dragon by Bruce Lee... tons of kick-ass action scenes by one of the greatest martial artists of all time.

Well, can Action include Sci Fi and Fantasy that has a lot of action in it?

If so,

-Matrix series
-Star Wars series
-Lord of the Rings trilogy

Those are obviously the three kings for scifi/fantasy action...

otherwise hmm... Ronin...Terminator 2 (3 had some cool action too)....Oh god, there's a LOT... I'll leave it at that.

I was gob smacked when I saw Hard boiled by John Woo, starring Chow yun fat, as the shoot out was in the maternity ward of a hospital. Ridiculous, but true. It was a good film but I felt guilty enjoying it as it was so violent.
I always had a soft spot for the first highlander. They don't do sword fights like they used to. Which brings me to Robin Hood and the sword fight between Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone at the end, fantastic choreography!
