I was just wondering how many of you folks out there are musicians? I'm a guitar player/ sound engineer hopeful.

Also... for the writers... Do certain musical pieces/songs inspire you to write certain scenes based around that piece of music?

Just curious.

BTW... there is a tune by Nortec Collective called "Al lado obscuro de mi compadre" that ya'll should definetely check out.

I play guitar, drums, and base, and have been doing so for the past eight years. I also know a little bit of piano and violin, though I still need a lot more practice on those two. As for inspiration, I get it from so many sources it would be hard to name them all.

I been playing guiter for 35 years. I have made a handsome living at it at times. I toured through the eighties when the drinking age was 19 in a lot of states and bars had huge budgets. Any way after that, in the 90's, the big gigs were in Alaska. Fun place to play.
I also play keyboards, bass, 5 string banjo and sing.
I get inspired by Moody Blues, Rick Wakeman "Journey to the Center of the Earth, Queen's "The Prophet Song" and a few others.
Some kinds of music tickle my imagination and creativity and so inspire me to write. I like sound tracks Like "Conan the Barbarian" also helps to inspire creative visions.
However a good portion of music inspires me to rock out and thrash fiercly and quaff huge quantities of frothing ale. Music is my first love. after that Wenching, writing, and burnt meat.

Figures... all the guys in the workshop are aging musicians...

<cough>

Yeah, I massacre a Jackson SDKII, that I customed out... Ash body, EMG85 at the bridge, a Duncan Jazz at the neck... (active/passive hybrid, pretty neat)

An Ibanez 5 string bass, and my old Epiphone accoustic...

"Figures... all the guys in the workshop are aging musicians..."

LOL... well I'll be damned.

The conan soundtrack is a classic. So is gustav holst's "Mars god of war"... love it.

hey enazwo... are you familiar with a moody blues song called "are you sitting comfortaby"?(I think that's what it's called)
It's off of the threshold of a dream album.

I love that we're all musicians. YEAY!

Hey! I'm the lead singer in a local band. It's kinda a hobby at this point since I seem to focus on my acting more but, anyway...

Please NOTE the MP3s were recorded on a two track!!!!! And are really just rough versions of the songs... anyway... the song Thought I Knew You was actually inspired by the character Crysania in Dragonlance Legends. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Ironically, my fool drummer just emailed me this morning in a fury complaining the mp3s weren't working. I put a call into the webmaster. Just check back later in the week if you're interested. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
