I hate the creatures, the internet type....

Have just spent 20 mins cleaning up after one.

It is not just the mess they make. Its having to write to the offended members, especially those who do not have English as their native language.... To explain the behaviour *sigh*

This forum being inhabited by inventive writers and would be writers, I just wondered what sort of punishment you would dream up for the beasties.

My favourite would be "nibbled to death by ducks...."

Best
Holbrook.

I have always been a big fan of impalement on a seven day old wedge of toast. Mighty painful... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Of course there is always the bottom of the pit in the Mod Mod thread... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Not the pit!! A fate worse than death by nibbling...

Besides, the pit has a station wagon sticking out of it.

I favor beating them with a wet Nerf baseball bat. Its good exercise for you too.

Pardonnez-moi as I'm internet-ignorant but what are "trolls", the internet type"?

I think he is referring to posting board jerks. Or otherwise abrasive indivduals.

This gives information on Trolls
http://www.teamtechnology.co.uk/troll.htm

On an academic forum, such as the one I help on they can cause havoc. A few words and phrases can insult, cause an arugement etc. Especially as a lot of our members only have English, as a second or third language, and often only use it on the internet.

Misunderstandings happen often, add a troll to the mix and chaos!

I have decided to tie them up and play tapes of my two teenage daughters talking....

Best
Holbrook.

Hmmm, that seriously sounds like the regular Jordan-Martin flamewars, ya know... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

I really hate those stupid flame-wars. Mostly because I like both authors.

As for punishment, take them to the torture chamber and begin surgically disassebling their hand starting with the fingertips and work your way down, no anesthetic. My buddy concocted that one in a game once.

You know the worst part aboutb all this is that the discription according to that link of what a troll is, pretty much fits me to a "T" http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Which then beggs the question "Will I soon go down in flames as I fall victum to the all-powerful BAN button, and then just be written off as just another lurking Troll?" http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif
