The Darksword by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
Picked up Forging the Darksword at Market, currently two chapters or so in and the world seems quite original for the authors with magic a truly integral part of life and no sign yet of folklore creatures.
Anybody read this? Any opinions?

I never read the series, but after a bit of internet research I admit that I am interested.
Perhaps the uniqueness of this story ha something to do with the dual effort of authoring??? Just a thought.

The pair's famed Dragonlance novels are very close to my heart, being the ones that got me hooked on fantasy. The world of Krynn may be an RPG inspired setting and a Middle-Earth carbon copy but the characters, their multi-faceted relationships and the pure energy of the story still gets me to this day.

Are they married? It's strange that two should work so much together... they have an impressive history of writing for their ages....

Not a big fan of these books; my least favorite of their work by far. I thought the series started out okay, but slowly went downhill from there. Then of course there is the end of the series. Awful, just awful, and I can't really say why without giving it away. I will say that my dislike of the conclusion is the result of a specific plot twist which many other reader may not mind. So while I wouldn't recommend these books, neither can I condemn them outright.

the ending of the second book tore me up pretty bad. Something about it was extremely sad. Man, thinking back about it now, that would have been a really cool way to end it right there. The 3rd book just seemed like a bunch of crazy crap lol.
