Ntschotschi: Sorry about that, having a German background, I should have known that.

Tolkien, according to urban legend, had it written in his will or some official documents, that Disney is to have NOTHING to do with any adaptation of his works. Good for him. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Tolkiens will... yea good for him from myself as well

But if Disney had made an animation of TLOTR, I am sure it would have been a lot better than the load of dross we actually got.

For your info, the best adaptation I have come across was actually done by the BBC Radio 4, it is available on a 13 cassette boxed set.

Disney could have made a nice looking move, but you know the Rigwraths, Sauron and Orcs would have been comical goofs even less scary than the Scar from The Lion King.

I am frightened of what they would have done with the elves and hobbits. Gandalf probably would have been voiced by Robin Williams or some other goofy sod.

I really wish I could remember the author of the lampoon book 'Board of the Rings', is there an organisation called the Harvard Lampoon, I think they produced this book?

I may still have it... in the attic (loft), I'll just don my protective suit and go take a look, wish me luck dude!

Got it! Not from the attic, but the net
http://www.ringsoft.demon.co.uk/books/titles/bored.htm

It would seem, you can get it from Amazon

This was talked about a while back, but in reference to the book version of the Princess Bride, I would definetely recomend it. I put off reading the book because I loved the movie so much and didn't want to ruin it. The book however is very similar to the movie it basically just gives more detail and background information on the characters. I liked it a lot and I still love the movie. It is one of the few movies that I like the book and the movie.

I read in .net magazine that EA have aquired the right to produce video games based on the movie, also another company is producing an RPG of the book

Hmm.. there were LoTR computer games already, and if you mean a pen and paper based RPG.. there is MERP.

Has anyone seen the Telemovie GormanGhast?
It was so incredibly crap that it gave me serious doubts as to whether the LOTR movie would be good. I'm gonna keep my expectations low so I will be either amazed by it's brilliance or not disapointed by it's total crapiness.
I'm in high anticipation of The Final Fantasy Movie though, because there is no way square can go wrong.

Sorry about that... it is a computer based multi player RPG, the company BTW is Havas, which means absolutely nothing to me
