Hi.
Can you explain to me what it is you're looking for?
A list of André Norton books? Or a definition of what Old Ones mean?
Thanx!

Actually I was wondering about the things I asked for in the post.
What was the first reference to "Old Ones" and Who first introduced them to existence?
What is the Tech Level (Civilisation Level) of the "Old Ones"?
Are there references to "Old Ones" in other works, by other authors?
What part of the universe did the "Old Ones" inhabit?
Are there specific points in space that the "Old Ones" can be contacted directly or indirectly?
Is there a method to resurrect the "Old Ones", scientifically or physically?
Is there specific time coordinates to locate the "Old Ones".
Do the "Old Ones" require specific bounty or sacrifice when approached or contacted?
Does someone attempting to contact/commune with the "Old Ones" need to be of a certain tech level or spiritual level?
Same Questions for:
the "Ancients"
the "Founders"
the "Long-Gones"
and The "First Ones"
the "Preservers"
Now I add: Are there any other entities also known as the "Old Ones" that I failed to mention?

A good question.
The Old Ones introduced themselves.
They go by many names, such as The Ancients, The First Ones, The Founders, etc. But keep in mind that The Founders can different from the Old Ones.
Many believe the place they were at was on a continent known as "Atlantis" which sunk beneath the waves over two millienium ago, but are often associated with the Pyramids of Egypt and Mexico as well as various stone circles like Stonehenge.
It is interesting to note that scientists have discovered Stonehenge emits a low frequency radio signal that pulses at a set rate, like a beacon. So far, tests on modern versions of the stone circles have shown no such inclination.
Many myths and legends speak of the "Old Ones". Among the more modern writers, Andre Norton is certainly one.
It is unclear if the "Old Ones" are technically advanced or supernatural beings, leaving some to wonder if they are not one race but several different races that have encountered us.
To contact them, you'll have to visit the places they have been known to frequent. It is unclear though if a 'sacrefice' is actually necessary, except to promote the idea that we are still a primitive and backwards race. Generally showing up on anyone's doorstep covered in blood with a dead body at your feet and a knife in your hand is usually not going to get you invited inside.
Of course, seeking to contact the Old Ones begs the question, why would you want to? What are you going to ask them?
On the Preservers, I would recommend taking a wide berth. Nothing will change their idea that we remain a wild and savage race to be 'protected' and 'preserved' and you might wind up becoming one of their protected charges in a habitat or zoo, worse off than before.

There has also been the suggestion by some, such as Terry Pratchett in his book "Sparta" that there are no "Old Ones". Instead, they and their artifacts are infact mis-directions to keep us from realizing the truth.
That we ourselves are the "Old Ones".
You heard the legends of people raised to the status of gods? What if that was a state all humanity could reach? After all, we only use a small percentage of our brains. What if we could use all the potential?
Of course, it may be that at that level, we realize all the dangers and thus work to preserve the fiction that its someone else we're suppose to turn to - but leave clues behind so the next person in need will reach his or her full potential for those few critical moments it is necessary.
The gods help those who help themselves.
Of course, that's only a theory.

I recently found myself at a website that tries to tie all scifi/fantasy storylines together. I feel they are doing a commendable job at it.
My love for scifi has been reinforced by my love for the sciences. Dr. Sagan opened my eyes when I caught a few epidodes of "Cosmos" when it aired on PBS. I bought his 'Pale Blue Dot' and read it cover to cover twice. My children took that book to school and it helped them with science classes.
As time goes by I feel drawn to the theoretical sciences and after spending extensive time at "OrionsArm.com" I have realized my favorite scifi is "hard scifi".
I believe in the 'awakening' theory that holds- We and everything we know is but the universe trying to understand itself. If that is true...All life prior to us has not revealed the true meaning of the universe because we are here which means the universe still needs some knowledge not fulfilled. At 14 Billion+ years old, humans are but infants, our civilisation is a few hundred thousand years into the search. We are newborns! The most advanced civilisation in the universe hold an attraction for knowledge and control.
I read the "Old Ones" created multiple bubble universes where they performed controlled experiments. Of those bubbles, we are but one. If that holds true, you could say I am seeking humanities creator.
Here are some great links to explore- I open the link and copy it here/no dead links.

I pasted the 1 billion lightyear map- next map is 14blyr. The site supports multi-languages

Talks about the levels of civilisations and technology. What level civ is capeable of a dysonsphere?

This is the site with the actual wording that spurred this discussion.
I think they did a wonderful job. Just think, take this idea and cover the entire scifi/fantasy realm- wow.
