Xayn June 22nd, 2001, 11:57 AM I did not mean to bad mouth him. I meant to bad mouth the casting agency. As of the man's acting I had no problems, it's just that he looks as much like Logan as Bill Clinton looks like Fabio.

Belderan June 25th, 2001, 02:49 AM good, then you are forgiven.
Aleya August 17th, 2001, 12:12 PM I must agree about the bad casting of Anna Paquin. I feel the way she played it kinda stripped Rogue of everything she is. Perhaps they will improve on this in the next film.
Halle Berry was just awful though. In the scene where she flies up the elevator shaft I don't think I've quite seen anyone ever make the wires as obvious as she did. I felt her whole performance was wooden. She's pretty, but just doesn't put me in mind of a Storm by any stretch of the imagination.
While Sabretooth isn't a huge favourite of mine I did think they did him a little disservice making him appear quite so dense and puppetlike. Hoping to see him come into his own in the next film, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my fave, Beast, to be good.
All that said, I did think the film was one of the best comic crossovers I've seen (who saw Spawn - eep!). It thought it was a decent introduction to the characters and concepts and stayed truer to the original than usual - fans are bound to pick holes, after all. I really enjoyed it - saw it 5 times http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif I am looking forward to the next X-men far more than Lord of the Rings.

Zsinj16 August 17th, 2001, 04:04 PM I must admit that I really enjoyed the X-Men
movie, even though it wasn't as good as the comics. I thought Hugh Jackman did excellent acting as Wolverine, with the exception of him being a bit to tall, seeing as Wolverine is kind of a short dude. I agree with Aleya that Anna Paquin did not quite fit the role of Rogue, but, oh well. Also, I was kind of dissapointed in Magneto being played by Ian McKellen, because in both the X-Men comics and the animated series, Magneto was muscular, and had long white hair, and didn't look that old, as with Ian McKellen playing Magneto this is completely on the contrary.
Another big thing I was dissapointed about in the X-Men movie was that the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants weren't in there original uniforms, of course with the exception of Mystique because she,ahem... wasn't wearing anything.
Now, let me point out the points that I thought were good in the movie.
1. All of the X-Men were portrayed excellently except Rogue.
2. The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants were portrayed excellently with the exception of Magneto.
3. I, for one, am certainly glad they changed Toad's appearance in the movie because in the comics his look absolutely sucked.
4. The X-Jet rocked!!!
5. The special effects were great.
6. The movie had a great plot.
7. I loved the Weapon X flashbacks Wolverine had.
8. I loved the fight between Wolverine and Sabretooth on top of the Statue of Liberty. 'Nuff said!!
Anyway, I'm REALLY looking forward to the next X-Men movie. I hope that Gambit, Beast, Jubilee, and maybe Nightcrawler are in it. I'm also hoping to see some new villains such as maybe Apocolypse,Cameron Hodge, the FOH, Mojo, Mr. Sinister,Lady Deathstrike,Juggernaut..etc, the list goes on and on!
Zsinj16 August 30th, 2001, 04:36 PM Hey, I just thought of one more thing about the X-Men movies. I read that if the movie X-Men II goes well, the director may plan to do as many X-Men movies as the James Bond movies! That means that maybe nearly all the great sagas of the X-Men will be chronicled in the movies!! One that I'm hoping will be made into a movie is "The Dark Phoenix Saga"
There's only one thing that they couldn't copy exactly from the comic, and that would be the part with the "Dazzler". Dazzler would have to be a rock or modern dance singer instead of a disco singer, since disco is way outta style now, and believe me, I'd prefer Dazzler being a rock singer over a dance singer, because I hate dance music, blech! Also, the unsavory disco that she performs in would have to be instead an uunsavory modern dance club, because, as I said disco is way out of style, and I hate disco anyway! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
