Okay,
these forums have the most boring colors and are very originol.
Now I dont know if this is a money problem but I think you need to unique these forums with colors.
For example take NewGrounds BBS forums. They have color other then light blue and dark blue.
the way I see it is SFF Worlds colors are Black and some blue color.
Why dont you make the forums back ground Black and all text blue with an acception of the smiley faces.
I understang their are some Older users that may have a problem with viewing them colors but ist their any rejections?

I am sure DAG will take your comments on board (no pun intended) this is after all your forum too.

I have to say though, a black background with blue writing would be terrible and not recommended from a web design point of view.

I think the current colours are attractive and very easy on the eyes and I would be disappointed if Dag changed them.

I have visited some forums with coloured text on a black background and didn't like it at all. It's much harder to read.

Just my two cents. :)

I also like the colors as they are now, and find them easy to read, even when I'm overly tired or have a migraine in tow. My eyes flip out from migraines a lot and that black background with light print drives me batty when they do, but I can almost always read here because of the color scheme.

At any rate, the draw of this place is the forums and discussion itself. The color scheme doesn't really matter beyond making it easy to read. At least we have the forums. That's what matters.

True, all of what has been said is true.

But the forums need something unique.
Doesnt matter if you change the colors or not. You could add a post Ranking.
or Nice Person ranking.
This forum is just too originol.

I understang their are some Older users that may have a problem with viewing them colors [...]

That made me laugh quite a bit. ;)

But what do you mean by "originol"? What does that mean?

And I just can repeat what most of the others already said. I don't think post ranking or 'nice person ranking' are a good idea, really. Esp. the latter one - that always turns me off of forums . . . okay, not really, but it is simply something I don't like at all.
The members and the discussions make this forum unique . . . ;)

I wish there was a way to spread word of these forums too.

I wish there was a way to spread word of these forums too. There is, quite simply, SubZero. Get others to have a look (or even better, join in)!

Back to the point in hand. Don't think you were around when we did this, but about a year ago Dag did try a few styles and layouts before getting this one. We did have to think about all users, whether it is those peddling away on a Windows 95 or some new and ultra-whizz. Time taken to download pages was important. (you can see my technical skills coming out, now, can't you? :) ). We also had to think about those who see in colour/black and white or green (there are still some) those who are visually impaired colour-blind, dyslexic etc etc.

The site has been around for a while - others have used the Forum programme since it's conception and they can look a little familiar.

Ultimately what you see now is what was seen by members at the time as best - slightly more modern but with elements of the old style. Not too flash but 'gudenuff' :D Some of those 'flash ones' take ages to download on a 56k modem!

Lastly = got to agree, IMO a Forum is what it's members make of it!
