LoTR Film Anecdote

As the days roll up closer to the first LoTR film release I thought I'd share an anecdote about it.

Way back when (about a year ago) I was in NZ and tried out for a part in the film (Return of the King). I had a hell of a fun day, and the casting people wrote ROHAN is big letters accross accross my casting sheet.
Some weeks later I get a phone call - want to come down and be in a marhc of Rhohan?

Problem was I was going to the UK in two weeks time so I said, um er, not sure. Can I call you back.

I hung up and thought - stupid moron - call them back now, now I say!

Then I realised I forgot to take their number.

Ten hours later, I managed to track down the original person I spoke to by which time he was very apologetic but of course all the places were filled.

ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHH!

To this day I wake up from nightmares screaming - I want to be a Rohan, I want to be a Rohan! (Well everything up to the nightmares is true).

The whole extras thing is great. The battle scene at the beginning of 'Gladiator' was filmed in these woods about 10 miles from my house. About half a dozen friends and aquaintances of my parents were in it, because pretty much the only qualification was being local and turning up. All male parts tho. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif

Truly that would evoke a deep sweat and that nasty churning sensation in your stomach http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif
