Here are a few things I remember:
- starts in a bownling alley with this geeky guy and his cool-guy brother,
- they meet up with a girl (think her name is Miranda),
- they get caught up in some alien effort to save the galaxy,
- they meet neanderthals, who were relocated by the aliens to a planet they called "Home",
- the whole story revolves around this ball-like being that is tagging along with the group, but turns out to be a self-contained universe, or somehing like that.
That is about all I remember. I expect it was written in the mid-eighties. Thanks.
