This is a rather simple question. If I submit a story on this forum for critique is it considered a reprint when I send it to a magazine/webzine? If so, how can i get critique for it without making it a reprint(besides family and friends)? As you can tell I've never sent anything off, but I am starting to feel I'm ready to.

You really need to talk to an agent or lawyer who knows about publication rights but as I understand it, most publishing houses concider electronic or internet distribution to be equal to first print rights, which is what they want. But there are others here who know much more about this than I do.

You many want to check out the SFWA's statement on electronic rights. (http://www.sfwa.org/contracts/ELEC.htm)

If you're just looking for a critique, you may want to ask people from this site if they're willing to look over your work, then send them a pdf file in email rather than risk confusion over what is internet distribution.

Thank you for your advice.

You're welcome!

Although I'm surprised nobody else chimed in on this....
