Hi,
I am not sure whether this relates more to sf or fantasy, but I guess I'll post it in both (and here on the general discussion board). (Apologies if you've read this in more than one venue.) My husband was looking for a book he remembered reading as a child (in the 80s). He thought it may have been by Andre Norton, the main impressions he remembers are it being about someone with mind powers, mainly he thinks having a mental shield that let the protagonist go up against a mind-controlling bad guy. He thinks there was an Egyptian feel to the setting and maybe some time/space travel components.
The book was definitely written in or prior to the mid-1980s, and would have been available in Australia (he borrowed it from his public library in Canberra, Australia...)
If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
