Don't discount Stephenson just yet, at least not until you have read SNOWCRASH.

Oh, I don't doubt Stephenson's abilities as a writer. Like I said, there was a lot to enjoy in Quicksilver and, given a plot and the firm but loving hand of an editor, his future novels would be great reads. Until then - I'm not discounting him, just avoiding him.

No seriously, you need to read Snowcrash. It's from earlier in his career, it's well edited and it has one heck of a plot. It's a stand-alone more-or-less cyberpunk novel from the early 90s that is rapidly turning into a classic.

Trust us on this one. ;)

Okay, Archren. Although my initial experienes with cyberpunk have not been overwhelmingly positive, I respect you and Soon Lee's opinions enough to check it out. Right after I finish up Nine Princes in Amber and Blindsight.

Snowcrash is superficial (even thinner than Robert Sawyer) and given to CP gibberish.
