Fascinating to see how you imagine Maerad, Mrs Cadvan - I reckon you got the eyes! The strange thing is that although I know exactly what Maerad is like from the inside, I don't really know what she looks like (pale skin, dark hair, blue eyes notwithstanding) from the outside. And anyway, I can't draw.

I like it, again not how i'd imagined her. But your quite a talented artist, i had a look at some of your other stuff while i was there... nice. I liked Eeva, interesting and yes very angsty :)

i liked the painting as well i have my own mental image of Maered but is quite interesting to see what other people think of her. i only ever attempt to draw my own characters but as i can't draw guy (for whatever reason) i can't do one of the main character of my current project.

Yeah, I don't generally try to illustrate books I like because I find it so hard to put the images in my head down on to paper. The other guys weren't ecstatic about my depiction of Maerad, but I do understand why; I don't think its really her either. I suppose I imagine her more...tough-looking, if that's the right word. But like I said, only my first attempt! I'll definately try to play around with some more ideas of her appearance!

And then maybe, just maybe, I'll have a crack at Cadvan... :D

YAY!!! i found it! my book is repaired! But, alas it will always bear the scars of the day it almost fell apart...

BTW..... (off the topic, but meh) I'M GOING TO SEE MISSY HIGGINS IN 18 DAYS....WEEEE section 16 row K, SUCH GOOD SEATS... ah the excitement. :D :D :D :D :D , it balances the horror of this awful day (my book breaks and i have a cold AND tomorrow i'm forced to go surfing for outdoor ed, the horror!)

PS i was wondering just then, how everyone got into the books in the first place, (ie were recomended them, found it in a bin(hopefully not :D )...etc), i know people might already have written this but... I found a copy in my schools library (as usual i was using my "study" time to great effect), i thought it was that book that they based that movie the Gift on at first, then i relised it was so much more, (ahhh those happy innocent days before senior schooling when i actualy had time to waste picking up books after misinterpreting the title  ). So, would anyone else care to enlighten us ...

Almost everyday I go into Ottakars (english Bookstore) and browse through almost every book in the young adult/adult fantasy adventure section. I read all the blurbs. Usually there are hundreds I want and I usually dream and think what it would be like to win the lottery jackpot, so anyway The Gift had a particularly good blurb, I bought it and i didn't put it down for 6 hours. He He!! :)

Missy Higgins is great - I'm very impressed by her. A real musician. So many young, smart, talented singer/songwriters coming out in Australia at the moment...

Commiserations on your book, Gemini, though I'm glad you found the sticky tape! Great to know that it's been loved to disrepair! And fascinating too to hear why people picked the book up in the first place.
