I got Legends through the SF Book Club a few years ago. I didn't read all of the stories, but the ones I did read, I thought were pretty good. I particulary liked Martin's The Hedge Knight . The paperback version of the book has been split up into several volumes, which might be good if you're only interested in a couple of the authors.

I have.
I would normally read the short story in legends by the author before starting thier main series. I haven't read them all yet, but overall they were pretty good stories.
My favorites were probably Martin's Hedgeknight, and the story by Anne McCaffrey (I can't remember its title and do not have my Legends book available).

Legends was one of the very few books I bought in hardback. The stories were really good. I especially liked Goodkind's Debt of Bones and Jordan's (can't remember the title). I thought King's entry for his Dark Tower series was a little disappointing. As far as Martin's Hedge Knight, while it was well written, it just didn't grab me. The rest of the stories that I read (I tended not to read any of the ones that took place in series that I hadn't read) were pretty good too, but none of them stand out in my mind right now. Can't wait for the sequel...

"New Spring" the Jordan short story in Legends is a must read for WoT fans.

Just want to know if New Springs gives anything away to those who are not up-to-date with WOT.

New Spring is about how Lan and Moiraine meet and the Black Ajah's search for Rand.
So it's set before book one.

You, I've read it, but only five of the stories: Jordan's "New Spring", Martin's "The Hedge Knight", Williams "The Burning Man", Goodkind's "The Debt of Bones" and Feist's "the Wood Boy"! Others of King and Pratchett I couldn't pass through them.
